Let's Design Your New Log Home!

Designing your new log home will be an enjoyable and rewarding venture. Most log homes are custom designed to include personalized features and touches that make the home uniquely suitable to the needs and desires of the owner. To simplify the design and construction of your new log home we offer the following recommended guidelines. We stand ready to offer assistance and to answer your questions every step of the way.

Step 1

Take a few minutes to browse the different sections of our website to learn why cypress logs and Suwannee River Log Homes are the right product and the right manufacturer for you. In the About Us section you will gain some insights into our company's history and reputation for excellence. The Products & Services section will provide information on log profiles, corner details, included services, and a great explanation of the durability and unique benefits of cypress. The Home Plans section provides artist renderings and floor-plans for our most popular models, while the Photo Gallery section offers a great way to gather some special design concepts and ideas. Comparing log home packages and prices from different manufacturers is difficult since the quality of materials and package contents may vary. In our Material Package section we provide a list of the materials included in each of our packages. This will help you to compare Apples to Apples when making comparisons. If you are still undecided on where to build your new log home, we invite you to visit our Cherokee Village section for additional information and photos. After your initial review please give us a call or email us so we may answer your questions and provide additional assistance throughout the design and planning process.

Step 2

Determine what size home will satisfy your personal needs as well as your personal budget. During our initial consultation we will discuss and provide assistance with all facets of the design and construction process. We can help you find log home lenders, experienced construction contractors, the ideal building site, and the appropriate materials package. We will discuss various models and design features and incorporate your concepts into the preliminary design of your new log home. Based on your concepts and choices we will prepare a free price quote for your materials package.

Step 3

In just a few short days we will meet again to review your design concepts, the materials list and options and pricing for your log home package. We will make any additional design modifications and prepare your plan for preliminary drafting. At this point we will require a 10% deposit on your log home package. This deposit will lock in your package price for up to a year and will begin the initial drafting process.

Step 4

Your preliminary plan will be prepared within two to three weeks. This plan is subject to your review, modifications and final approval. Once you have approved the plan it is returned to our in-house architect for the final drafting of architectural blueprints.

Step 5

Once the preliminary plan is submitted for blueprints, we can begin working on the production and delivery schedules for your new log home. An additional 15% deposit will be required before we will begin milling your logs. During this period you may also begin with land clearing and site preparations. Once blueprints are complete - normally 3 to 4 weeks - you can commence with foundation work and schedule your first delivery. The first delivery will require a 50% deposit and the second delivery will require final payment. Throughout the construction process Suwannee River Log Homes will stand by you providing assistance and technical support to insure your complete satisfaction.
